THE STORIES I TELL
I love listening to people tell the stories of their lives – and the stories of the generations that came before them.
I believe that we need to know the past in order to understand the time we live in. Perhaps that is why I am so often drawn to history, family histories and the lives of people who might otherwise be forgotten.
But I do not believe that everything in a human life can be explained simply through cause and effect.
There are more subtle forces at work too. Energies, intuition, the choices we make – and whether we move through life guided by fear or by trust. Even an astrological birth chart can reveal something about the circumstances and possibilities we carry with us.
This is the territory I return to in my writing: human lives and the forces, visible and invisible, that shape them.
I found this box of old letters in an attic. Some of them later provided source material for an article – exactly the kind of discovery that sets my imagination in motion.
